Solution 1: Restart your device

Restarting your smartphone can solve this problem. Press and hold power button on smartphone. When the pop-up menu appears, tap Restart option, and then confirm your choice and wait until the smartphone get restarted.

Solution 2: Clear cache

This will clear cached data for all your apps on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Go to Settings> Apps> All> Storage
  • Tap on Clear Cache 

Solution 3: Wipe cache partition

If you are unable to implement the above methods, you can access recovery mode and select "Wipe cache partition" option.

Solution 4: Uninstall Google Play Store updates

This method can help you fix "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working". What you need to do is clear cache for Google Play app and uninstall Google Play store update. To do that:
  • Go to Settings> App Manager, and then search for Google Play.
  • Tap “Clear Cache”.
  • Then, tap Uninstall Updates.
  • Once you're done, restart your device. Go to Google Play and click on the three horizontal lines (Menu).
  • Then, tap Settings. Scroll down and tap on “Play Store version” Then you'll see a message: "A new version of Google Play store will be downloaded" tap OK.

Solution 5: Boot smartphone in safe mode

this problem may be caused by a third-party app. You can boot to safe mode. When you do this, you will be able to use your android device without third party apps. If the device is normal, and the error message does not appear when you trying to access settings, then one of the apps is the reason. You can uninstall apps one by one, or you can perform a factory reset.
  • Press and hold the power button
  • When from menu, press and hold Power off
  • You will be asked if you want to restart your device in safe mode
  • Press OK
  • After restarting your device you will see Safe mode in the lower-left corner of the screen

Solution 6: Factory reset

Perform a factory reset will clear all your data, before proceeding, backup all of your data.
  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Backup & Reset
  • Tap on factory data reset
  • Tap Reset Phone
